Week One.

Walking is actually so good for you, and it’s something we don’t even think about a lot of the time.

I started a six-week step challenge at work this past week. I thought it would be easy, but it has actually been something I have had to really focus on and work towards.

It’s awesome that my employer is doing this, because when everyone around you is trying to get steps in, you’re more inclined to do so as well. One-on-one meetings are being done through taking walks, we are encouraged to walk every hour or so for 5-10 minutes to increase our steps and our production, and we positively push each other every day. It’s pretty cool.

Anyways, the goal is to get as many steps as possible each day. My personal goal is to hit at least 10,000 a day, if not more.

It’s not as easy as it sounds. I had to be strategic with how I got my steps each day last week. I had to take extra walks and be on my feet as much as possible. I even did the walking desk at work; where I would walk on the treadmill and work for an hour straight, which gets you a lot of steps.

Week one was great! My team didn’t win, but I met my personal goal on every day except for one. Here’s how I did:

Monday: 12,585 steps

Tuesday: 11,147 steps

Wednesday: 9,444 steps

Thursday: 10,177 steps

Friday: 11,052 steps

Saturday: 10,111 steps

Sunday: 11,409 steps

This brings me to a total of 75,925 steps last week! Yay for fitness.
